Dr. Thomas A. Bissell earned his Doctor of Medical Sciences Degree at Harvard Medical School, and earned his Postdoctoral Certificate of Periodontology at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine. While at Harvard, Dr. Bissell was awarded the James H. Shaw Award for excellence in biomedical research. He also served on the faculty at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine as a clinical instructor in Periodontology.
Before attending Harvard, Dr. Bissell earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree at Stony Brook University School of Dental Medicine, where he completed an Honors Periodontics program and earned admission into Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the National Dental Honor Society. Dr. Bissell was also the first Hines Scholar at the Forsyth Dental Research Center.
Currently, Dr. Bissell is the Clinical Assistant Professor for the Department of Periodontics at Rutgers School of Dental Medicine. He instructs third and fourth year dental students and regularly lectures to the Rutgers second year students on a multitude of topics, such as "Soft Tissue Grafting."
Dr. Bissell, a Long Island native, enjoys golf when he is not spending time with his wife, two sons, and daughter.

Dr. Bissell completed the requirements for Board Certification by The American Board of Periodontology, joining a very small percentage of periodontists who have achieved this rigorous educational and practical feat. As a Board Certified Diplomate, Dr. Bissell continues his pursuit to provide the highest quality, most advanced dental care to his patients.
